TICKS
ILLNESSES THEY CAN CAUSE YOU AND YOUR PETS
Recently we had a very freighting experience with one of our dogs. He acted like he was not feeling good, he was eating but then throwing up, he was loosing weight, the next thing we knew he had a very bad nose bleed. Off to the veterinarian. Test were done, his red blood cell count was low as was his platelet count (accounting for the nose bleed). We authorized further test, and he tested positive for Erlichia, a tick-borne illness. Fortunately it was caught early. He was started on antibiotics. He is feeling much better, his red blood cell counts is still low but with time, he is expected to make a full recovery.
